The Hario Nel Drip Brew method has been around for many years and was invented in Japan. Although this method is very similar to Chemex and the pour-over method, it has a special way of making coffee. The main difference is that the nel drip uses a cotton flannel. This is the perfect way to bring out the flavor of specialty coffee beans, such as the ones you can buy at 787 Coffee! In this 787 brew guide, we'll teach you how to brew coffee with a nel drip.
Prepare Your Materials:
Nel drip set with flannel filter, and glass container
Freshly roasted coffee beans
Grinder
Scale
Kettle with a thin spout

17.5- 20 grams

Step by Step Guide!
Heat your water
Heat your water around 175 F, remember the temperature of your coffee is very important, if its too hot or too cold it can change the delicious flavor of your coffee
Water Your Filter
This step is importance to avoid any unwanted flavors into your delicious coffee do this for about 5 minutes. After you have done this, rinse your filter for any excess water
Grind Your Coffee
For the Nel Drip a coarse grind is perfect to extract all of the delicious flavors form your coffee beans
Add Your Coffee to the Nel
When your pour your coffee make sure you don’t compress the grounds, usa a paddle and groom the coffee make circular motions, after this make a small mountain with your coffee with a dent in the middle.
Start Pouring!
Place your nel set on the of the scale, set your timer and begin to pour the water in the middle of your coffee grounds. Begin pouring only 50 grams of water within 30 seconds, after that stop for 30 seconds and watch your coffee bloom. On the second pier you’ll want to put 160 grams of water stop for 30 seconds, so your coffee blooms again. On the third pour you’ll want to have 280 grams of water, this should take 30 seconds.
